The Beanbag Project
In our ‘INBalance’ classes, we have been exploring the health benefits of exercising with beanbags.
Beanbags are versatile and convenient. They are lightweight and easily accessible to all.
This has inspired a small group of us to make our own bean bags and sell these with exercise instructions in order to raise money for charity. The charity we are currently raising money for is ‘Stone Pillow’.
Why Beanbags?
Brain Gym Exercises
Bean bags are a great addition to brain gym exercises that boost brain function. Tossing, catching, and handling bean bags improves hand-eye coordination and activates brain areas linked to motor skills and focus. Using bean bags in these exercises can enhance memory, concentration, and overall cognitive abilities.
Sore muscle relief
Hand bean bags also offer therapeutic warmth for sore muscles. When heated, they serve as a soothing compress that helps relieve muscle tension and discomfort. Placing warm bean bags on sore areas can promote relaxation and ease stiffness. This easy method is great for post-workout recovery or as a comforting solution after a long day.
Mind-body connection
Using bean bags in our wellness routines can strengthen the mind-body connection. Activities like tossing and catching help us become more aware of our movements and sensations. This awareness can improve coordination, balance, and body control. The connection built through these exercises can enhance our overall sense of well-being and self-awareness.
